Urban Sprawl abstractly models the growth of a town into a thriving city into a teeming metropolis.
Players act as entrepreneurs, tycoons, and politicians, working to develop a single modern urban area. Fortunes will be made and spent, and prestige will rise and fall, throughout the game. As time goes by, older buildings will be demolished to make room for better and newer ones. Throughout the game players will gather valuable permit cards. These will result in either a lucrative investment or the foundation of a new building contract.
Players will strive to become dominant in one or more building zones in order to acquire beneficial political offices. The end result will be a vibrant metropolis that is revered around the world—but only the player with the most prestige will be crowned the winner.
